How much Slop do I give my dog?
If you are giving your dog slop for the first time always test out a small amount before attempting to add it to their meals.
Here are our recommended feeding guidelines:
- Small Dogs (up to 20 lbs): ½ cup - 1 cup per day (up to ½ a pack)
- Medium Dogs (20-50 lbs): 1 cup - 3 cups per day (up to 1 ½ packs)
- Large Dogs (50-90 lbs): 3 cups - 5 cups per day (up to 2 ½ packs)
- Giant Dogs (90 lbs+): 5 cups - 6 cups per day (up to 3 packs)
Each pack of Slop is 500 grams.
You should always adjust the portions based on age, activity, and health needs.
-
How should I store Slop?
You can keep Slop in your freezer for up to three years from the production date. We vacuum seal our Slops to ensure they are immune to freezer-burn!
To feed your dog Slop, be sure to defrost it first in the fridge overnight.
Refrigerate any unused Slop portions and use within 3 days.

Is cooked food a better option for my dog?
If you have tried other alternatives, like a raw diet or kibble, you should consider adding Slop to the mix.
Cooked food like Slop is oftentimes more gentle on your dog’s digestion than alternatives.
-
We're currently on raw diet and are thinking of switching to cooked food. Should we try Slop?
Yes!
The main benefit of a raw diet for dogs is by avoiding the cooking process your dog will receive nutrients that it may not otherwise.
At Slop, we cook locally-sourced food for your dogs. Cooked food improves digestibility and greatly reduces the risk of foodborne illnesses.
To ensure that our food is packed with tons of nutrients, antioxidants, and minerals, we include fruits, veggies, bone broth, and other 100% natural ingredients that you can eat yourself!

We're a kibble household. Why should we try Slop?
Imagine you had cereal for breakfast every day.
Now, imagine you had cereal for every meal every day.
While kibble can provide what you need for your dog, mixing in Slop can make your dog’s meals more exciting.
Slop’s locally-sourced cooked food for dogs provides protein, hydration, fruits, vegetables, herbs, and more for your dog too.
-
Do I give my dog a full Slop meal or should I always mix it?
Yes, you can absolutely feed your dog a Slop meal without adding any kibble, treats, or other garnishes to the bowl.
You can also mix it with other dog food like kibble or sardines, for example.
The feeding guidelines are based on the assumption that your dog is also consuming treats during the day and/or additional garnishes in its meal.
-
Why does Slop look yellow in some places?
Slop is made with real turmeric! Real turmeric oftentimes looks yellow, especially in the soupier areas in our Slop. While the turmeric adds a bit of yellow to our Slop, it won’t stain any of your dog bowls.
-
What are the white dots in slop?
That’s the powdered eggshell we use in our Slop to ensure your dog is getting all the calcium it needs. Eggshells are also pretty great at wiping plaque from your dogs teeth as it eats the slop.
